This page serves as a progress report for porting Android to the HTC Kaiser. Currently the phone is in a fit state to use day to day, as long as you don't mind short battery life or a few missing features such as Bluetooth, WiFi and cameras. Even in its current state, the android port is still a much better OS than Windows Mobile.
| Component | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| LCD | | Some applications have resolution issues, Donut has better support for QVGA |
| Touch screen | | |
| Keyboard | | See boot options page for configuration on AT&T Tilt |
| Ambient light sensor | | Keyboard backlight switched off when it's bright enough |
| Front camera | | Camera application might not start depending on the rom, but other apps surely work including manual focus (Currently ION builds only support the Camera) |
| Back camera | | Camera application starts, on ION and Dount you can take pictures (spin wheel to focus); but no video yet. It does not work on other builds |
| LEDs | | Android is able to control them, but they are currently mostly used for diagnostic purposes |
| WiFi | | WiFi works, works with 1.5 builds and current 1.6 builds. |
| Bluetooth | | Firmware loads, we are able talk to BT chip, some have managed to use simple functionality to scan bluetooth devices |
| Radio/GSM | | Some people report issues making/receiving phone calls, PIN request doesn't work, Only works with the correct APN Settings |
| SD controller | | |
| Power saving | | Still a work in progress, newer builds are generally more power efficient |
| Battery control | | |
| Rear speaker | | Works for applications, but not for speakerphone |
| GPS | | Not fully supported by programs but it does work |
| USB | | |
| 3D (OpenGL) | | |
| JOGwheel | | |
| Microphone | | |
| Tilt sensor | | yes and no, only with ION and DZO's current kernel and roofts; it fakes having the sensor, tap screen to make the game think you tilted the phone that way to get to work |
| Suspend/Resume | | |
| Vibrate | | |
| Flash | | Works when the appropriate kernel modules are compiled in. Can't detect partitions and can't access WinMo file system |
| Native Bootloader | | Not overly important at the moment |
| Codename | Version | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Donut | 1.6 | | Currently based off of SDK, missing features and many applications |
| 1.5 | | Works | |
| 1.1 | | Updated SDK version based off of Cupcake | |
| 1.0 | | Initial release version | |
| 0.9 | | Obsoleted by time booting would be possible | |
| m5/0.8 | | Glitchy, crashes often |
